Do you worry your kids will only eat chicken nuggets for the rest of their lives? How do you encourage your kids to try new foods?

My son was a picky eater all his life and still is at the age of 19. Since he has been away at college, he has broadened his ability to try new things and is now eating things that he wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole when he was growing up. He is a muscular 6 ft 2 in young man, who doesn’t seem to ever get sick. So, I wouldn’t worry about their picky eating habits unless the only thing they eat is sugary desserts.

I feel for anyone who has a picky eater…I have been blessed, yes BLESSED because my dauther has and continues to try anything I put in front of her…since the day we could start feeding her “real food.” She does have days when she wont eat, but I know now it’s not because she doesnt like it, but because she is simply not hungry. I know this because I will serve her the same thing for her next meal and she eats it with no hesitation.

I can see what picky eaters can cause to a mommy/daddy when trying to get them to eat something OTHER than bread/chicken nuggets/etc. The stress/worry/frustration seems overwhelming. I feel for you…but keep strong! I know we all want our children to eat those beautifully steamed veggies and roasted chicken and perfectly orchestrated meals…and someday they just might! ;) But for now, hang in there. And look at the other replies. All those picky eaters are doing just fine, and they are even expanding their menu’s!
