My mom likes to say that there just isn't any room left in her head for the unimportant stuff ... she's just grateful to have the important stuff covered (feeding the kids at all, remembering to put on pants ... that kind of thing.) ;)

Oh - and I forgot to pick up my daughter once (got tied up in something) ... she STILL gives me guilt and that was like 6 months ago!

Wow! you hit the nail on the head with this. My oldest is turning 8 in a couple weeks, and I've faced this mommy brain/super powers thing since she was born. I can juggle 3 small kids and a husband, soccer practices and trips to costco. But for some reason, stirring the kids mac and cheese slips my attention. Or putting my husbands clothes in the dryer on time for him to actually have them for work. Remembering to pick up my boy at pre-school right after picking up the girls on a half day... that one sucks, cause the girls always tell him "mommy forgot you!"
At the end of the day it really is the best job in the world though huh.
And Carla said it: problem solving is a huge thing in raising a child. Your mind is forced to think more as soon as that little angel arrives.
As soon as we realize we've had "mom brain" we know how to work through it and get stuff done.

Definitely feel the whole scatterbrain thing. However being able to handle multiple child-related problems at the same time is something I don't think my husband will ever be able to master. Also, seeing my two children grow up (ages 2yrs & 7mos) makes my mind wander to thoughts I never thought I would have. Raising two children makes me want to learn, and think, and experience as much as I can so that I will have the best tools for teaching them about life. I completely agree with both sides. There are times where I will pass up the store because I'm thinking about something else, and then 10mins later when I get home I'll forget the groceries in the car because my mind is 1 step ahead of my body. But I think problem solving is a huge thing in raising a child. Your mind is forced to think more as soon as that little angel arrives.

I know this contest is over. But I wanted to leave this very important comment. I own one of these. As my Mother in law passed in August of 2011. My Father in law had 1 of these made for each of us girls. It was the most touching gift I have ever recieved. I wear her thumb print around my neck everyday an have never taken it off since her passing. This is a very clever gift. My brother is passing of lung an bone cancer an I want to get one made of his thumb print as well. For myself an his daughter an wife. Every funeral home should offer these. Thank you for such a wonderful sentimental idea.
