Want to write for us?

Here at Fans of Being a Mom, we talk all the time about the stories you share and the wonderful way you spontaneously support each other with advice, empathy, and words of encouragement. We feel really lucky to have such a compassionate and engaged group of moms hanging out in our virtual space. The wealth of experience, stories, knowledge, and humor is astounding.

Which is why we’ve decided to extend an invitation.

Do you have a funny anecdote or heartwarming tale of motherhood that you think other moms would enjoy? Have you had an experience that others could learn from? Do you have a tongue-in-cheek way of looking at the ups and downs of motherhood? If you do, we invite you to submit your story idea. If it’s a fit, you might have the chance to write your story up and see it published on our blog and promoted through our Facebook page.

If you’re interested, here are the basics:

  • Topic – Pretty much any topic is fair game, but extras points for unique ideas that we haven’t written about recently.
  • Post length – 300 – 600 words is about right.
  • Authorship – Anything you submit must be yours and yours alone. You must own all rights. It must also be original content that has not been published elsewhere.
  • Format – We accept Word or plain text files.
  • Extras – In addition to your post copy, we’d love to have you submit a photo. (Again, the rights must either be owned by you, or open under the Creative Commons usage … in which case please include a reference link to the original source.)
  • About You – Although we aren’t offering monetary compensation for posts, we would love to “spotlight” you via a “byline bio” which will accompany your post: 50 – 80 words including a link and a headshot.

Sound good? If you’d like to learn more, drop us a line via the Contact Us form. Be sure to include a link to your blog (if you have one – no worries if you don’t) and give us a quick description of what you’d like to write about. We’ll review inquiries as they come in and respond as quickly as we can.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and giving you a place to share your stories more fully.

Thanks!

Jamie & Meredith
