My favorite thing about books is watching my children enjoy so many of the books I did when I was a kid
We love to read!! Something that we can all sit down and do together
I love how books take you to a far off place! Whether it teaches you something or allows you to pretend for a moment…books are just SO MUCH FUN! I love to read (and so do my kids!).
I love to read! They look interesting!
I have a 4- and 2-year-old. Splat the Cat is a daily must-read for both of them! My daughter’s monthly Scholastic Book orders are a simple highlight of our month as we look through and pick out new books! I love looking around my house to see the baskets of books. I love that both of my children would rather sit down and ‘read’ a book than watch TV.
I would love some New books to read for myself and my four children. I am always sitting down and reading to them and while I am expecting and about eight weeks pregnant with my fifth child. I love to sit and read with them as much as possible.
My husband, son, twin girls, and I love to read! I started reading to my children when they were young and now that they are teens they still love to read…we are always buying new books, have a bookcase full of books, and love to share our books with friends. We also help by donating books when there is a book drive to help others. This looks like a great gift pack and we would love reading all the picks by Harper Collins! : ) : ) : )
Reading is a family activity for us where everyone is happy because we all get to choose our own books. Everyday is a minimal of 30 minutes for each of us to read, most days I have to unfortunately pull the kiddos away from reading so we get outside activity too! It’s quickly approaching summer time so this would be a great time for my family to receive some new books to add to our collection. What’s great about these books is there are some we can read together.
Our family are all readers… infact my daughter was reading by age 3!! She loves books, they are always on the top of her list at Christmas! We never have to push her to read, we usually have to PUSH her to do something else. LOL! She makes me SUPER PROUD!! Would love to win this contest! New to your bog… this is AWESOME! Wish I had found it SOONER! Oh well.. I’m here NOW!
Reading is so important… I love seeing their imaginations soar when we are reading!
My 9 and 6 year olds love to read. And reading is my little escape from all the craziness.
My child and I attend storytime at the library every week and she loves it! It’s something we can do together and one day maybe she’ll become an avid reader just as I am.
I love to read. When I’m not reading something for myself I’m reading to either my boys (and they’re all teens now ages 12,14, 16 and 18) or I’m volunteering in a classroom and reading to the kids there. I love almost all books and there’s nothing like an afternoon curled up with a good mystery or a stack of kids books that I loved as I grew up or ones I’ve discovered over the last 18 years when my oldest son was born.
I love how you can lose yourself in a good book, even down to the weather portrayed. I’m thankful my oldest son loves to read as much as I do, and hope that my youngest will follow in his big brothers footsteps.
My mom when i was a kid used to let me read whatever i wanted. Now I have a massive book collection and my kids are starting one as well. Reading and books is in our blood.
I LOOOVE books. It’s my little break from being a nursing student a few hours a week. My almost five year old son loves reading too. It is something I would like for him to keep up as he gets older and grows up. A curious mind is a terrible thing to waste.
One of my favorite memories as a child was all the time I spent reading outdoors…. my mother had a rule that if it was summer, if the sun was shining… then you should be outdoors…. I was a child who loved to read– so my books went with me wherever I went… under a tree, by the water, on the swingset… I was never without one!
I love bedtime stories with my son!
When I was little, I would go to the local library. They had little reading nooks with chairs and I’d read for hours. The library and the bookmobile got me through some of the toughest times in my life. I am a mother of 2 now and also an Angel in Heaven. My son passed away in July and books have been getting me through ever since.
It’ a sweet escape for me and my kids..I love to see their favorites and the way the react to the stories and what they think about it..It is a great way to bond with the kids..we love books.
I absolutely love to read a good book-especially now that the weather is getting warmer. I go out to the front porch and curl up on the swing and read for hours!! Would love to win this prize.
My favorite thing about books is reading with my older children. Every night we sit on the couch together and take turns reading chapters of a book. Right now we’re reading the Percy Jackson series. My 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son love them, and I think they’re pretty great. I also enjoy teaching my 4 year old daughter how to sound out words as she is starting to learn to read. I love bedtime stories with my 4 and 3 year old daughters
I would love to have some new books to read to my son, he loves being read to as much as I love reading to him. It would be nice to have something for me to read while he’s napping too:)
Books take you to wonderful places and really do wonders for the mind. As a kid, I loved the Amelia Bedelia books! Now, I read just about anything, but I love Jane Austen novels.
I LOVE that my kids are reading independently…even my 4 year old. I love spending times reading books–such a fruitful use of time and so entertaining!
My favorite thing about books is the way you are taken to another place, another world, another time. I love watching my children experience the same thing, especially while reading the same books I did as a child and experiencing the same type of magic.
I love reading… although I don’t get much adult reading in anymore… mostly Dr. Seuss and A.A. Milne.
Books are BY FAR my favorite way to get away from my world and drown myself in a far off place and time. Uncomplicated, you just have to open the pages and be swept away! No special skills required, read at your own pace, what could be better? Books create movies in your imagination far more complex than any dvd. They are as comforting as any old friend would be, and just as reliable.
I was blessed to have grandmother’s who gave books as “gifts”. I read everything and anything. I still have all of my Nancy Drew books – which I would immerse myself in. I wanted to BE Nancy Drew. Between my husband and myself we have 8 kids and FINALLY we have a “reader”. Our daughter Karena is a reader like us and we spend at least 2-3 hours on Friday nights at Barnes and Noble as well as go to our local library. Karena is the youngest at soon to be 10 (on May 12th) while the others range from 22-36. Karena knows that reading is knowledge and she is a page right of “OUR” book!! Karena now has those Nancy Drew books and is beginning the series this year.
I am a single mom with a 6yr old son,we both love to read and as many others have said it is a escape to another world,we spend alot of time reading in the evenings and some on the weekends,it is a cheap form of entertainment…lol Plus its great bonding time with my son…he gets so excited when we get new books,he cant wait to get inside them..then he will ask a dozen questions as we are reading….thanks for this contest and others you all put on here!
I love to read and get lost in the books I read. I also love that my 8 year old loves to read and has to be told to stop reading. And that my 4 year old tries to read books by herself, too.
I love to read to my son Alex. He gets so in to the books and its so cute. I love reading with him
Reading is the number one thing I enjoy and now that Im a mom I read with my little girl in hopes she will love books as much as her mommy
I love to read! Reading something for myself is such a treat. I also love to snuggle up with my kiddos to read to them. My five year old is becoming a great reader, so listening to him read is one of my favorite things to do!
I have always loved reading. I remember when I was a kid telling my mom in the summer that I would go “clean my room” instead of swimming in the pool. Hours later, my mom would walk in with my room still all in disarray, and me, sprawled out on the bed with a book in hand. Both my four year old and 15 month old are already enamored with reading and books. My four year old couldn’t wait to learn his letters and how they form words so he could read books all on his own. I will never forget how happy I was when my then-13 month old picked up a book and walked over and sat in my lap, pushing his book to me.
I love that reading for us is a family thing. My grandmother and I would sit at the kitchen table and read together when I was little. My aunts and uncles instilled a love of books in me from the earliest memory I have. We’d make annual trips to the Tattered Cover, and every mall we hit on road trips we would ask “Where’s the bookstore?” Much better than asking where the Arcade is, I think
. Now that I have my own children, each time I read to them, I thank my family for sharing this wonderful hobby with me- and I hope that my girls will pick up on it and fall in love with the stories they find themselves discovering!
We love books! We actually have just re-arranged the bookcases at our house to put almost all our books in one room (with the t.v. and computer) – our own Library! At any given time you can find one (or all 6 of us) with our noses in our books!
My love of reading comes from my mom, who got it from her mom (my grandmother). Mom taught me that with books, we can escape, be whoever we want to be, go wherever we want to go. Books can inspire me, open my mind to new perspectives, give me hope, make me cry or laugh, catch me off guard, scare me, fill me with anticipation, and spark new ideas. Mom passed away suddenly less than four months ago. This will be my first Mother’s Day without her. I know it will be so very difficult; she was my best friend….no card or phone call from her this year, and no selecting the perfect card for her. But I have the gifts she gave me – how to be a good mom, patience and tolerance, kindness, and the love of reading. Each time I curl up with a book, I think of Mom, and how she taught me it’s okay to escape within the pages.
And someone else has another gift Mom left…she donated her corneas, having always said how horrible it would be if someone could not see well enough to read.
My favorite thing about books used to be reading a great book from cover to cover in one day…getting so engrossed in the story that I couldn’t think about putting it down.
Now my favorite thing is to walk into my eight year old son’s room when he’s supposed to be asleep and seeing him doing the same thing. Of course I have to tell him to put the book down and go to sleep, but inside I’m a proud mama.
Books open a whole new world. There’s this one commercial that shows kids getting on a train and each of them have a different book with them. Whatever they’re reading is where they are going. To me, books have been able to transport me anywhere. When I was younger, I really enjoyed fantastical places that didn’t exist. Characters and a world that had to be imagined completely because it didn’t really exist. As I got older, I have turned more toward books that take me to real places and cause me to look up more information about them. I love fiction that refers to actual events. I still love the imaginative places of Wonderland and Oz, but there’s something special when you actually can connect with a time and a place. I have passed the love of reading to my daughters, and I continually repeat “Keep reading and getting better. Nobody can take literacy away from you.” Reading is the only thing one can truly own.

I love this giveaway; how appropriate.
“Call of the Wild”, by Jack London, still fascinates me as much as it did when I first picked it up to read as a teenager. Reading is the best gift! It can take you places without evening leaving the comfort of your seat.
My son and I share a love for books. For him it is time to share with mommy and it bolsters his creativity and imagination and for me it is a sweet escape and time to unwind at the end of the day after he goes to sleep. I would love these books especially the ones for my son. They would make a great addition to his ever growing library:-D
Some of my favorite memories are of reading. When I was a young girl visiting my grandparents in another state, grandma would take to me to the library and I would read for hours on end. Reading in my room as a teen…reading as a young mom…and reading “Goodnight Moon” over and over again to my young sons. The tears I get in my eyes every time I read “Love You Forever”, even if I’m NOT reading to my sons. My escape is reading. I love it! There’s little in this world that is better than a good book and a blanket on a cold winter day, or a good book and a great big lemonade on a hot day!
Well I love reading and always have. I think Ive read everything by Robin Cook, and almost everything by Jodi Piccoult!! She is my new favorite author. =] My oldest loves to read too. She love the Romona books and Junie B. Jones books as well. I think my favorite books to read to her are Love you Forever, The BFG, and any Shel Silverstein book. My fav of his is Where the side walk ends. My youngest is starting to get intrested in books now she is 2, so I know it will come in time. I actually just joined a book club and it meets tonight and the first book I read for it was Water for elephants. Great Read!!
I had an abusive childhood growing up and I remember getting that escape from the turmoil I was living in by picking up a book. It was my only escape sometimes, and even now with my kids and husband, soccer and work, and homework a good book is still a great escape for me.
My favorite thing about reading with my kids, is when they finish reading a book that I read as I child we discuss it. It feels like we have our own little book club. Also, if there is a movie coming out that is in book form. We always read it first, then watch the movie. After we watch the movie we then discuss the differences between the book and movie. My boys are 9 and 11 years old and the LOVE finding new things that I haven’t noticed before!
I love reading because it turns my energetic little boys into cuddly angels at night, and it teaches them about creativity, imagination and the foundations of the English language (without them even knowing that they’re learning). I also look forward to sharing the stories that have made an impact on my life with my sons as they grow older. For me personally, reading serves as an escape and an opportunity to unwind from a day of diapers, laundry and cooking. I can travel through time and across the world before bed!
My family of 4 loves to read! We are at the Library at least 3 times a week!
Reading has always been my favorite activity! What a way to escape or to live a different life! My 12 year old still loves for me to read to him, which gives me an opportunity to ‘relive’ the times we’d spent cuddled up together when he was younger (I miss those days).
I love everything about books. The smell of the paper, the sound of the pages turning. When I was a little girl, I could hardly wait to go to the library and check out a book. I read it over and over again. When I read, I am transported to faraway places. Sometimes in the future, sometimes in the past. There is nothing like lying in the swing on a warm Saturday reading a good book!
I love to read books because it is extremely relaxing and I can forget for a while all the stress that I have. I have a one year old little girl and I am trying to pass the love to read on to her. We sit and read a book at least once a day. Most of the time I will catch her sitting in the floor looking at the books by herself.
One of my favorite books when I was growing up was Little Women. It was such a touching story. My favorite book to read with my daughter is The Little Engine that Could. I want her to always know that she can do whatever she puts her mind to.
I don’t really have a favorite thing about books. I just have to have them. We are a huge reading family and I don’t think we could go a day without books!
I can still remember the feeling of leaning up against my mom while she read to me and my brother. I remember how her voice sounded, how she smelled, everything. I am a librarian now so I love to read and love that my 3 year old loves books and loves it when I bring new books home!
I love picking out books and reading them to my 4 year old every night at bedtime!!!!!
My absolute favorite thing about books is the love my daughter has for them! She will be 2 in June, but she loves books. She will sit in her reading area for HOURS pulling books down and looking through them. She even pretends to read them, saying random words as she turns the pages.
Sometimes, when we read our before bed book, I will leave out words that she fills in. Good night pond! Good night…” “DUCK” she says enthusiastically!
I keep a supply of new books hidden for when she has a bad day, or is really cranky or sick. IT always cheers her up!!!
My favorite reading spot as a kid was up in our grafted cherry tree. Part of it had white blossoms and part of it had pink. And there was a perfect branch to sit on where I could lean back comfortably against the trunk and just read.
I hope my kids find a place like that, too, some day!
Reading has always been my safe place, to escape from the world and find peace. My favorite things about books has been passing my passion for reading on to my children, they both love books and being read too. The other day I overheard my 5 year old reading aloud in her room and not only was I proud of her ability but the way she was lost in the story! Some our favorites are Mrs Frisby and the rats of NHIM, Diary of a wimpy kid and The wizard of OZ books!
I love to read all kinds of books. Plus between my sister and I we have 5 girls to pass down the books to. Everything gets recycled in our family.
My boys and I love to read. We read daily and my oldest son has read a lot this school year. I do love to read when I have the chance and am always looking for easy reading books that I can read in my “spare” time.
Shel Silverstein has to be my favorite children’s author. I remember first hearing his poems in elementary school and how I always told myself that when I have kids I want to read them his books. My son is 4 and he’s not quite understanding of the impact his stories show, but when he is I know he will love his books like I do.
Books bring so much joy to my life! They are my escape, my refuge. I am blessed to have children who also enjoy reading. My children’s favorties include the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary and The 39 Clues series. One of my favorite children’s books is Thank You, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco. This book goes to the heart of why I became a teacher. A favorite in my 5th grade classroom is Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. It is true I get excited about children’s literature, but I enjoy grown up topics too. I like to read almost anything by Jodi Piccoult and a new favorite is Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. So many books to choose from … where shall I go today?
I lived at our local library growing up. I love engrossing myself in a good novel and imagining what the characters and settings look like. I got my husband an e-reader for Christmas and he LOVES it. Our toddler loves books too and I love to listen to her tell her own stories as she looks through them. I can’t wait to see if she becomes interested in the same kinds of books I did as a child.
My dream job would be to be a librarian!! I would love to peruse books all day! I am trying to instill the love of reading to my 6 year twin boys – we read at least 20 minutes each day and a lot of times they beg for more!
I myself love to read and i have been trying to pass the love of books on to all of my children. easier said then done sometimes
I dont think we have read any of those books in the giveaway as yet so they would provide another diversity to our colleciton if we were to win them. One of my favorites and now theirs is a book Charlottes web. I remember reading it when i was their age, now i have to smile when i watch our middle child reading it to her brother
I have read for my whole life – usually 2 or 3 books at a time. My mother reads the same way and now my daughter does the same thing. I always have one book at work to read at lunch, one in my car for when I’m waiting for kids and another in the den. Sometimes there is a fourth next to my bed. Weirdly, I usually finish them all around the same time!
We take multi-generational visits to our local Borders and nobody ever leaves without at least three new books – we joke that it’s the family “sickness” to read so many at the same time. We all share our books as well. My mom passes hers on to the library in the Senior housing where she lives (after I’ve read them of course) and I pass mine on to friends. When they come back to me, I donate them to my mom’s library as well. My daughter and her friends are constantly sharing books and expanding their reading experiences.
There is nothing like watching my kids learn to love reading as much as I do, and we always need MORE BOOKS!
The greatest gift my Mom ever gave me was the love of books. She would buy me as many books as I could read & gave me all the time I wanted for reading. We forged a bond over reading that continues into my 40s…I hope to give my kids the same love of reading!
Reading has always been a big part of my life, and I’ve enjoyed sharing that love with my children. We make a weekly (or more often!) trip to the library and book orders were always such a treat when my daughters were in elementary school. The girls are now in high school and college, but their little brothers are 3 and 4, so we’ll be able to look forward to those again. The boys get to have stories read to them not only by me, but their older sisters also. One of the girls plans to be a librarian, so the love of reading really got into her!
I love the escape I get from the real world. Whether it is only for a few minutes or a few hours. By my daughter seeing me read, she is now always with a book. I would love to win this collection because with her being three, I end up buying her books and don’t get any for myself.
Reading is a nightly ritual for us. Both of my kids get 30mins undevided attention to read with my & dad. Sometimes we go over the time limit without realizing it! My mom used to read to me every night and it was our special time. This is something I’m trying to do with my kids.
Reading is also “my time”. My husband makes sure I get time to myself so I can get lost in another world.
I have always loved reading. I don’t go anywhere without a book or two. I’m happy to say my teenage boys (14 and 19) also have the same love for books. There is nothing like opening a new book and letting go of everything else.
I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on and spent many school vacations reading til my eyes popped out!! We started reading to my girls when they were very young and to this day they both love to read and have spent many many hours with their noses in a good book.
I run a home daycare and we read constantly. I can’t believe the stack of books I put away each night! I’m also a mom of two and no matter how “rotten” my kids are in the store, if they ask for a book, they always get one. My mom did the same and I love her for it every day.
The thing I like the best about books is like you said…losing yourself in them. The ones that have touched me the most and have stayed with me are the ones that I end up crying through. I remember reading “Where the Red Fern Grows” and crying like a baby, but I will never, never forget that book. They’re the ones that stick with you, the ones that you get emotionally attached to. I couldn’t imagine my life without books!
I love, love, love books! I am a compulsive reader that has to spend some time reading every day!
Wow, it is so hard to decide exactly what my favorite thing is about books!! I love the unmistakeable smell of the pages of a brand new book. I love the way time can stop when I am reading, and I can travel to all sorts of amazing places. I love the way a book fuels my children’s imaginations.
I love to hold a book in my hands and know that it is all up to me and the author to explore another world, all on my own.
When reading by myself, I love losing myself to another world. When reading with my 8 month old, I love how his eyes light up when we pick up his favorite book, and how eager he is to turn the pages. It’s beautiful!
What a wonderful giveaway!! I have always loved books and reading. I remember as a kid getting in “trouble” for hiding under the covers or riding in the back of the car on long trips reading with a flashlight instead of sleeping. Friends make of fun of me when they ask what I’m reading because I’m usually in the middle of a few different books. And now to see that my 4 year old already has the “bug” is my greatest pleasure. She always goes for the biggest book in the library and “reads” it to younger kids. Her library is already rivals mine. And she is starting to read her first reader books to me all by herself!! We would love to add to our collections and expand our reading adventures together!!
Oh I love books.. Such a nice way to get away from everyday stresses in the real world!
I love to read as an escape from day to day life. It’s like my mini-mental-vacation! It’s also a great way to stay close with my friends, giving us an excuse for girl’s night once a month book club.
Books bring me close with my 4 yr old. It’s our time to bond and read, he loves being read to and tries to read to me. My favorite book growing up was Where the Wild Things Are. I have passed that book down to my son and he loves it. My favorite book as an adult was a Time to Kill by John Grisham. I have a passion for law so his books really get my interest. Reading is so important in so mahy ways, it opens the mind, takes you to places you may never see in person, it allows you to escape or bond together. Reading is something different to everyone, that is the great part about it.
My husband, sons, and myself love to read. We have times throughout the week and weekend that we call “family reading time”. We all stay in the same room so we are still spending time together. After we have read, we get together and talk about our readings. It is so much fun. I hope we get some more readings to talk about.
I love books because not only are they a great way to learn, but because of the memories they create. My most treasured memory is going to the bookstore with my grandmother every Saturday and leaving with bags full of books. I hope to share with my two little ones just how amazing books can be.
That is a really good idea. Definitely a great Mother’s Day present if your looking for something that would be really enjoyable, but easy on the pocketbook. I will have to use this idea for next year as I have already gotten my mother her gift. Nothing better than getting some quiet time allowing you to get lost in a really good read!
I luv to read. My daughter doesnt know that I know that she got me two books that I wanted for mothers day.
One of my favorite things to do with my son is to go to the library. We pick a ton of books then sit in a big window seat and choose the ones we will take home. This is a very exciting time because he JUST learning how to read! I’ve given him my favorite children’s books from when I was young, now I just need to find a taker for my Nancy Drew books!
Thanks!
I have a hard time saying “no” whenever my son asks me to read him a book. I just love the enthusiasm he displays and the creativity he uses when he “reads” me his version of what I just read him.
As for myself, I love that books can be my escape from the whirlwind that is the life of a single mom… it like a mini-vacation between those pages.
I love reading. It is, without a doubt, one of my all time favorite things to do and has been since as long as I can remember. One of the first things I do when I move to a new city is find the library. Within a month, the librarians know me by name. I’ve been to libraries coast to coast, north to south and in between. If I could afford it, I’d buy the books but since I’ve been known to finish a book a day, no way could I afford that!
I always read to my kids which instilled in them a love of books, as well. In fact, my older daughter graduated college with a degree in English and a minor in journalism!
I have three daughters and one of our favorite things to do is cuddle together and read books. They will spend hours bringing me different books to read for them. I have read every book we own more times than I can count!
I love getting lost in a good book! Thankfully my daughter enjoys reading as much as I do and she is only 6!
Reading is one of the best things on Earth. It’s time you get to spend curled up with your little ones, teaching them and laughing, time to get swept away into a different place of your choosing, its time to educate yourself, share with friends, and to be inspired. Without books life would be small.
I could go on and on about what I love about books and what my favorites are. But as a mom, my favorite thing is the special time my husband and I share with our son when we read to him before bed. Our normally very active two year old boy will snuggle on our lap and listen attentively as we read. He’ll point out everything on the page, recite the words himself, or on rare occasion doze off in our arms. It’s truly my favorite time of the day and it’s a ritual that I hope we have for many years to come.
I love the smell of books. I have them out all over my house, I just can not pack them away. My books are my friends and when I go to book swaps, I buy books to swap with. Reading is MY time, and I spend my time with Historical Fiction, Chick Lits, Memoirs, Dramas, and the Vampire Clans.
I read to my baby when I was pregnant, and I read to her as a baby to get her to sleep. In Kindergarten, she was identified as a TAG student in Reading. SO proud of her. Now, in 4th grade she LOVES to read. Now we take turns reading to each other. Its a favorite pastime in our home.
I love the snuggle time each night as I read books to the kids before bed. Would love some new books to read!
I love to read and my daughter is becoming a reader too! We love to bond over books and snuggle up together go through stacks at a time! This is a great giveaway for the summer, and for families! Thanks!!
Love reading, the best getaway from reality ever!!
I love to read because it’s entertainment and education in one (for kids and adults)! Lnbskinner@comcast.net
I’ve always loved to read. I used to walk to the library several times a week as soon as I was old enough.I can’t wait to share the excitement and joy of reading with my little girl.
I have always loved to read, I love that my two daughter love to read!1
I love to read! For me, it is a temporary visit to another world. I love that my 13 year old son loves to read, and I am working on my daughter!! My favorite memory is seeing my son when he was about 10 grabbing the Bible and sitting in a cozy corner of the couch to read it…of his own accord.
I love how reading takes us to new and exciting places and how excited my kids get with new stories.
Our family loves reading. Each night before bed we pick out books to read. Both our 2 year old and our 1 year old want to keep reading and reading. Just tonight the 2 year old said … I want 1,2,3,4,5 … 5 books to read.
I love that they love to read as much as we do. My hustand and I both love to read before out bedtime too. There is nothing like a good book! I hope I win this collection!
I have LOVED books ever since I can remrmber as a little girl, and Thankfully have passed that LOVE to my 2 boys!!! My 9 1/2 yr.old is in the “Millionaires Club” at school, meaning that he has read over one million words since school started this past August 2010. He actually,as of today,is up to 2,272,559 total words read, and is on a 5.3 grade level, even though he’s in the 4th grade. They have to take computer tests on the books they read,so the teachers then know that the child actually did read that book,if he/she passes the test [AR Tests].Keep the books a-comin’!!!!!:)
I love reading, you can safely go on an adventure, anytime, anywhere, and share every aspect with anyone, re-reading, and re-living. Books are awesome. I can’t wait for my daughter to learn to read so we can share.
I contribute a daughter learning to read before she went to school to my reading her Dr. Seuss books. I am reading Kristin Hannah books and the Left Behind series right now. Get to talking about books and encourage others to read! Adults reading also sets a good example for children. My son is the top reader in his class!
I always said if I was stranded on an island i would want nothing but books, and music, and my husband and children. for me and my daughter its books, my husband and son it would be music. we would be very happy on an island.
Reading is my escape! Escape from what, I’m not sure, but I simply get so engrossed I’m gone! My favorite as a child? “Are You My Mother?” out of a Dr. Seuss series of books in my first grade class. My best friend Paul couldn’t read yet and I would read that book to him almost every day. When we got to the “snort!” part, we’d giggle maniacally!
As happy as I am to be a mommy to my 1 year old daughter, it is nice to read a book. To cuddle up, feel relaxed and just read. I’ve ALWAYS loved reading and it’s something I hopefully will pass on to my daughter. Her book she has that’s her fave is Which Bunny Are You. I myself love Mary Kay Andrews books. Southern comically stories with drama is what I enjoy about her. Reading is a time it doesn’t matter where you are you can open a book, and imagine each character, background and scenes of where it is all happening in the stolry. Reading, there is nothing better!!!
My favorite book to read to my kids when they were little was I Love you Forever. I would read and sing that book almost every night. Now my kids are 13 and 10 i still sing that song to my kids some nights before they go to bed, I love to read and try to read everynight before i go to bed. Alot of nights my kids will grab their books and come lay with me to read. My 10 year old Daughter has such a passion for reading and loves to write her own stories and poetry as well. My love for reading has definitly been passed on to her:):):)
Reading is part of my life. I love reading since I am a little kid and trying to get my kids to it. I have three kids, girl-boy-girl. They love reading book too. That is one thing they would sit quietly. Anyone that knows me know I always have a book with me. That’s that!!
I love these books!!
Good luck Everyone!!!
I love reading to my 4 kids and then they take the book and make a story about the pictures in the book. It was something I did with my mom and now I get to do it with mine.
I love reading (and my two oldest, so far, have picked up this love) because I can use my imagination to create these images that the authors have created with their words. Sometimes now that I’m older, I forget to use my imagination, but when I read, it comes back to life and flourishes. I also love comparing what I’ve created in my mind, to a movie or tv show that has been based off of a book, and seeing how closely my imagination matches the production team’s imaginations.
I love reading to my kids, and now my older ones read to the younger ones… Even the 2 yo has caught the bug and “reads” to the baby… And would love to get another copy of Pride and Prejudice, have worn mine out!
there is nothing better than the enjoyment on my 8 yr. old daughters face when she loves a story. she is now reading to her older sister and me. we love shel silverstein books!
My daughter is just getting into books and this would be a great way to keep her interested…:)
I love to read but my 15 and 7 year old love to read! Please pick us my girls love books and so do I!
I had a troubled childhood and books were(and still are) my escape from the troubles. I think it is easier to cope with our mundane stresses when you realize that you don’t have to fight dragons, or get shot at, or play mind games to stay alive. I now read to my kids at bedtime. my daughter frequently laments that I don’t do it often enough. We have read through many series this way.
