Sorry! This Giveaway is now closed.
More than anyone, moms need a break once in a while. I mean – let’s be honest – once you’ve entered the hallowed halls of motherhood, you can kiss peace and quiet goodbye. Calm, Zen-like moments are a thing of the past. Relaxation is a concept that is interesting in a gee-I-wonder-what-that-would-be-like way. It’s sad really. Well, have no fear – MommyJuice Wines are here. When you’re feeling frazzled and slightly-less-than-sane, pour yourself a glass and let the bliss begin. Don’t miss the GIVEAWAY below, but first – today’s guest post from the founder and creator of MommyJuice Wines, Cheryl Durzy, you’ll learn how to pair certain wines with everyday mom events. Take it away, Cheryl!
I have been in the wine industry for over 13 years. The only other area where I have even remotely considerable experience in is parenting—7.5 years. Over 8 if you count pregnancy. In many circumstances, I have discovered that these two passions of mine overlap. Wine is a regular part of my post-parenting regime – after I’ve put the kiddos to bed for the night, I relax with a glass (or two).
Chefs and sommeliers like to pair wine and food. I like to pair wine and parenting situations. All wines have unique personalities and traits, just like kids and their little quirks.
Parenting Situation #2567: Homemade “Paint” on the Walls or Crib
Homemade paint = poo. Poo on the walls, the crib, the floor. Sooner or later, most babies/toddlers stick their hands down a diaper and come up with a finger full. And wow, it looks fun to paint with! When the unsuspecting mom comes in to check on her peaceful, supposedly napping babe, the scent and sight can be very disconcerting.
It’s stinky and a pain to clean up. But it will be okay. Probably cleaner then before—which means it’s time to celebrate and embrace the “poo.”
Many Syrahs, especially those from the “Old World” winegrowing regions (anywhere in Europe) have a scent to them that wine experts describe as “barnyard.” Translation: it smells a little like poo. But that is not a bad thing. Combined with other characteristics like dark berries, smoke, and maybe a little bacon, the wine becomes interesting, complex and really tasty. Relax – your baby was just trying to express his artistic side. Maybe he will be the next Poo-casso.
Wine Pairing: French Syrah from the Northern Rhône Valley (it will not say Syrah on the label because French wines are sold by the region, not the varietal/grape type. For the best value look for red wine from St. Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage)
Parenting Situation #4546: The first day of daycare/preschool
As a working mom, I brought my oldest child to daycare for the first time when he was about 4 months old. I love my job, so I was excited to go back to work. However, I had finally found a good routine with the little bugger and was really enjoying my time with him. I had serious doubts about returning to work, but that was not a financially viable option for me. So, off to daycare he went.
My son was fine. He slept through the entire drop off. I was a mess. I cried when I left. I cried in the car. I cried on my way to work. I cried at work. I called the center three times in the first hour to see if he was okay. The director of the center told me politely that she would call me with anything and to PLEASE STOP CALLING. It was horrible. When picked up my baby at the end of the day I was so happy to see him. We had a lovely evening at home and then he went to sleep. Though we had to do it all over again in the morning, the next day I only cried until the first stoplight. I called only once. The day after that, I teared up. Then, I was okay.
I chose Viognier that first night. I was overwhelmed with the return to work and leaving my baby with people I did not really know all that well personally (although I had many excellent references). Why Viognier? For a white wine, it has quite a kick…and by kick I mean alcohol – typically over 14-15% in California Viogniers. And after bugger went to bed, I needed some “down” time. And fast. I had two glasses of Viognier, got a little happy and went to sleep. Plus Viognier has great stone fruit (apricot, peach) flavors with aromas of honeysuckle. Seems delicate, but there is some muscle in there. It does the job efficiently. Which is what every working mom strives for: efficiency!!
Wine Pairing: Viognier (pronounced Vee-Oh-Nay): Look for a California Viognier. Try and find one grown in the Central Coast region of the state where the grapes really showcase the floral aromas and flavors the varietal is famous for.
As moms, we learn to handle all kinds of crazy situations. Each time we get through another chaotic day or traumatic crisis, we get a little stronger. Still, there’s nothing wrong with a little help when it comes to unwinding and recuperating from the day’s “adventure.” After all – we’ll have to do it all over again tomorrow; may as well kick back while we can!

MommyJuice Wines – Made for mommys by a mommy
MommyJuice Wines was founded by Cheryl Durzy, a mom of 2 and 10+ year veteran of the wine industry in Sales and Marketing at Clos LaChance Wines. These wines were inspired by her young children that point to wine glasses everywhere claiming “That’s Mommy’s Juice!” Her vision includes balanced, fruit-forward wines that bring just a bit of peace after the chaos of everyday life as a parent.

Ahhhhh just what the end of the day needs ~ a great glass of wine!
I think a little bit of vino actually helps us be better with the kids! More calm, more patient, more ready to tackle the next challenge. My weekly uncorking does the trick!
This sounds MARVELOUS! I love being a mom, but I also love wine and relaxing!
I have a crazy, wild 1 1/2 year old. Wine is needed to help relax after a long, exciting day!

I love being a Mommy. Best job in the world. Right now we are potty training our 2 yr old daughter. A little Mommy juice at the end of the day would be a nice treat to share with my husband.
I have a 2 yr old and 4 yr old. Both boys. I am a stay at home mom. Although I truly love my job as a mother and I adore my boys, some “Mommy Juice” would definitely hit the spot after a very long day.

I could definitely use a glass (or 2) of MommyJuice after a really long day with my 2 toddlers!!!!
I am a SAHM of 4 (16,10,2,1) and a full time student taking online classes. So after taking kids to and from school, driving to games and practices, dealing with 2 little ones all day, cleaning the house, and trying to do homework. I need a glass (sometimes a bottle) of wine at night.
Ooooooo Mommy Juice sounds wonderful! I’m a mom to 3, two of which I homeschool the other is an adult who is moving to NY in August. The Mommy Juice idea is a great one and I had to chuckle at the pairing of the wine to the situation. With my first born getting ready for his big move, I sure could use alot of juice to get me through LOL.
Being a Mom of a Beautiful 4yr old little girl, can sometimes wear you out.. I would love to relax with a glass of Mommy Juice wine, in the evening
)
I am a SAHM of 2 girls (3 and 1) and my husband works nights, so from the house of 6am-3pm I have them alone and then again from 6p-till they go to bed. I NEED a glass of wine by then end of the night and Mommy Juice sounds wonderful. I’m also excited to know that I am not the only one who calls it “Mommy Juice!!!”
I am the blessed mother of five teenagers and a three year old with a severe peanut allergy…I don’t think I need to say anymore…I NEED some Mommy Juice
This post and this giveaway could not have been more timely. I just woke up from one of those very looooong nights of consoling my 3 year old who was puking and having tummy pains all night! Tonight, Momma could definitely use some Mommy Juice! Lol!
Being a mommy of a 4 year old, as well as a full-time student with a 3.9 GPA & wife to a husband that works 2 jobs full-time, at the end of some of those really long days full of running errands, couponing, sewing, crafting, playing outside, dishes, laundry, and eating cold dinners alone, I could REALLY use a nice glass of MommyJuice!
Mommy Juice is exactly what I call wine at home. At the end of a long day at work and after putting my darling three year old son to bed I grab a bottle of my favoite wine and pour a glass to enjoy with a great smutt magazine.
I love wine. And…I am a single/only parent to both a 4 and 5 year old. My monsters fill my day with chaos! It would be a nice treat to unwind. When they’re with Grandma, of course!
I love being a mom! I have 4 kids 13,10,5,1. Two girls two boys and I have to say after a long day of tantrums, teenage mood swings, and boys being boys lol some mommy juice sounds like the perfect ending to a busy day
We have a 2 year old that has just discovered tempertantrums and have been trying gor number 2 for 18 months now. This mama could really use some MommyJuice
A little vino with my girlfriends is my favorite mommy treat!
It’s always nice to sit back and relax with a good book and a good glass of wine when my little one is asleep!
With my 7 yr old son’s busy schedule (soccer, flag football and karate) and me being a full-time student, a nice glass of white wine is just what this soon-to-be nurse calls for! Especially once finals are over next week! =)
i need mommy juice – especially while we are starting testing for autism on my middle child!!!
I could use a glass everyday but especially yesterday when my two year old, who is potty trained, didnt make it to the toilet on time 3 times. Peed on the floor twice and pooped everywhere once. And shthrows the biggest temper tantrums I have ever seenOnce she gets going my ten month old daughter feels she needs to join in and cry too. Oh how I love being a mom!! I really do, a glass of wine could help sometimes lol
I gave birth to my daughter Jan 31, 2011. I thought the worst was over, but instead I would find out two hours later that my increase in discomfort and lack of movement and energy was due to internal bleeding. I was half a pint of blood away from needing a hysterectomy. Finally the extreme pain was gone, and the next day I received two blood transfusions. Once home and off pain medication I could once again feel everything, and was in tremendous pain. I was extremely lethargic and sub par for the first six weeks, and now, 3 months later, am finally feeling like myself again. I’d love to be able to celebrate my first Mother’s Day with a little mommy juice. I think I earned it, and am glad I am able to be here with my daughter to celebrate it
Between finals for my last semester of college, Brownie troop co-leading for my daughter, speech therapy with my son, and running my husband back and forth to work while his car is broke down, a glass of wine is one of the few things that can completely help me relax and let the day go before bedtime.
Oh MommyJuice, where have you been? How is it that I am just hearing of you? A glass a day helps to keep busy mommies sane!
My active 3 year old, and 2 year old boys leave me often craving a glass of red after they finally get to bed!
A little wine at the end of the day makes mommy’s evenings a little enjoyable!!
I have a four year-old boy…..what more do I have to say! A glass of wine at the end of the day is wonderful!
I’ve got three girls: 16, 3 1/2 and almost 2 and with working full time and completing my Master’s Degree soon, a little wine goes a long way
After chasing 3 yr old twin boys all day a glass of wine once they are asleep really calms the mind and nerves
I am the Mom of three teenagers…had them within 3 years…one son & twin girls…today I have to have them in 3 different places at the same time…one has a job interview, girls have cheer practice, and one daughter has a chorus concert & will be singing a solo…NOT sure how I’m going to do it yet…but as the saying goes if there is a will, there is a way! I’m up for the challenge & I know I’ll make it happen, but the MOMMY JUICE WINE would be an awesome way to end my busy & challenging night!!!
: ) : )
Being a mom of a 3 year old and a 2 year old (13 months apart), leads to many days of ‘pulling my hair out’ as they are going through terrible twos together (and boy do they play off each other)!! Having a nice glass of wine with their daddy at the end of a long day is a nice way for us both to reconnect when our ‘angels’ are in bed
Everyone in our house is sick, even the dog. I need a break!
Ahhh, why do I need a little MommyJuice? Because my typically bouncing, beaming baby boy is 8 months old today, and to celebrate, he’s cutting his first tooth. He’s now my little squirming screamer! To compete, my daughter has learned “Mine!” and “No!” and how to reach a higher decibel when throwing a tantrum, all in the past 2 weeks since she turned two. By the end of the day, Mommy REALLY needs her Juice!
After working full time all day, then spending quality time with my two young kids, I feel quite exhausted and ready to relax by the time I get them to bed. Couldn’t think of a better way to relax than a glass of Mommy Juice!
For the past few years my husband has worked out of town (in the USAF) M-F, leaving me alone with our two young children and two dogs…I could use some MommyJuice every night after feeling crazy all day long!
After a long day with the kids….a glass of MommyJuice helps me to be a better wife!
This would definitely be something great to share with some other moms I know!!
With a 17 year old, a 15 year old, and an almost 1 (next week) year old, life can get a little nuts! From dirty diapers to track meets, sometimes I feel like a yo yo…
As a Mom of 5 I would love a litte something special for me to help me relax at the end of my very long days!!
I would love some MommyJuice to share with my best friend! We went to college together and never dreamed that we would be able to share raising our kids: she has 3 kids ages 6 through 8 months old and I have 2 ages 6 through 2 years old. We talk regularly over the phone and are getting our kids together for several days over the summer. It would be great to be able to put the kids to bed, kick back and share some MommyJuice while we are together over the summer!
My husband and I have 4 sons and 2 daughters from 5 – 15 years old. I am a SAHM and am alone with the kids from the time they get up until about 6 p.m. M-F. I could definitely use some MommyJuice when my husband gets home from work at night! He’d like it to! lol
Sigh…where to begin, well it sounds like I am a lot like the rest of the moms that have posted. It’s all about balance and time management all while filling all the roles that we play as mothers. My own personal balance is at the end of a hectic day when the house is quiet, usually not clean, kids are asleep and I sit on the couch with a glass of wine and the remote for the DVR. Just escape. All moms and dads should have an escape if only for the length of a TV show
From deployments for the husband, who is currently on the 3rd one to Iraq, and having a 2 year old son who has hit the the high of terrible 2′s and working full-time. It’s just daily stressers of being mommy AND daddy and daily stressers at work. Then fitting in time to clean, cook, laundry, etc. Definitely makes you want to have a well deserved glass of mommy juice after some rough, long and challenging days.
Yummy!
double yummy!
I like wine when I have a bad day at work and come home to more family problems. It helps me relax.
I need some MommyJuice because today was my second day back to work after maternity leave with my second daughter. With a 25mo old who is very, how shall I put this, “spirited” and a 3mo old who enjoys seeing me a few times throughout the wee hours of the night, I could use a glass of wine to help me unwind after a long workday.
I need Mommy Juice, because sometimes Mommy needs to unwind! (Provided Daddy is watching the wee one of course!)
The “terrible threes” creates a strong need for “mommy juice” at the end of the day!!
Yummmm! Mommy wants sum!
I run a home daycare with seven kids under the age of 4. Mommy needs to sit back and relax!
